Outdoor Deck Lighting: What are my Options?

When thinking about what you want your custom deck to look like, one of the things you may be considering is outdoor lighting for your deck. If you are designing a beautiful new composite deck, you want to be able to use it during the day and night. By incorporating lights into your deck, you can be sure your deck will be useable at any time. As a contractor that specializes is custom Trex Decks, we know Trex offers many solutions to this issue. Here are the different lighting options Trex offers for your next deck:

Trex Post Cap Light

One of the most popular options Trex has to offer is their Trex Post Cap Light. These lights go on top of the posts that are a part of your railing system. These lights provide light downward towards your decking boards to help you see where your are walking. They also provide light on the perimeter of your deck.

Stair Riser Lights

The next option Trex offers is their Stair Riser Lights. These lights are also a very popular option as they illuminate your stairs at night. These small lights go on the vertical portion of your stairs and illuminate the steps so that when you are using your stairs, you can see each step.

Deck Rail Lights

Deck rail lights go onto the posts of your railing system. The lights shine downwards onto your decking surface to help light up the deck for greater visibility at night.

Recessed Deck Lighting

Recessed deck lighting is exactly like it sounds, lights that are recessed into your composite decking boards. The lights are completely flush with the decking so they are out of the way and they won’t stub anyone’s toes.

Wedge Deck Lights

Wedge deck lights are very similar to deck rail lights. The Wedge lights sit on your railing posts and project their light downwards towards the decking floor, helping to illuminate your deck at night.

These lights go on the underside of your deck. The soffit lights work great if you want the underside of your deck to be a space where people will hang out. If you have a patio under your deck and want the space illuminated, these lights are a great option.
